CULTURE NEWS

  • Former curator Dilys Blum of the Philadelphia Art Museum died at 77 after a storied career that included exhibitions like Off the Wall and BOOM: Art and Design of the 1940s. Her legacy continues in a forthcoming catalog for Workshop of the World set to debut in July.  WHYY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SEPTA will resume all morning express trains this week on Regional Rail with 24 trips across lines including Paoli/Thorndale and Media/Wawa + riders should check updated schedules for changes at stops.  Metro Philadelphia
  • SEPTA’s trolley tunnel connecting West Philadelphia and Center City reopens today at 5 a.m. after a two-month closure over damage from new sliders — riders will see the T shuttle bus end as service resumes with planned nightly closures for further repairs.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Philadelphia’s Office of Homeless Services & Continuum of Care is seeking volunteers to help with the 2026 Point-In-Time Count of individuals experiencing homelessness. The survey begins at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center with free virtual training available in January and sign-up closing Jan. 14.  Metro Philadelphia

SPORTS NEWS

  • Philly’s 2026 Phillies season airs on NBC Sports Philadelphia, Peacock, ESPN, Fox and streaming services with key matchups on April 19 vs. Braves and July 5 in Kansas City plus Netflix’s Home Run Derby on July 13; fans need multiple platforms (NBC and online) to catch all 162 games.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Philadelphia 76ers dropped a 116-115 overtime game to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night as Tyrese Maxey scored a game-high 38 points & the team plans to regroup ahead of a rematch Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Toronto.  Metro Philadelphia
