- ➤ Eleven Philadelphia shelter dogs will compete in Puppy Bowl 22 on Sunday, Feb. 8. Toy poodle Oscar leads the Philly area lineup as over 150 puppies from 72 shelters get a chance to shine (Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV and HBO Max). WHYY

- ➤ Marquis & Co. the group behind HipCityVeg, Bar Bombón, and Charlie Was a Sinner is celebrating Philadelphia’s vegan legacy by launching the Philly’s Vegan OGs campaign through Jan. 31. Guests visiting any location can win a $500 gift card. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Walnut Street Theatre announced its 2026-27 season with five productions running from Sept. 22 to May 30. The lineup includes 'The Addams Family', Disney's 'Frozen', Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Glengarry Glen Ross', Noël Coward's 'Present Laughter', and 'Come From Away'. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Local artist Lin Elkins is the new Fellow in the Museum for Art in Wood and NextFab’s Winter Residency Program, using reclaimed wood until March 5. Her solo exhibition runs at NextFab (1800 N American St.) from March 12 to May 12, with an Artist Talk on March 13. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ 93-year-old Welsh resident Avril Davidge visited Philadelphia for the Mummers Parade on New Year's Day but later faced Instagram’s AI error that suspended her account and cut off her link to local followers. - ➤ Mayor Parker described Philly as a world-class events destination during Monday's PCMA conference at the Convention Center, highlighting upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup, MLB All-Star game, PGA Championship, and NCAA basketball rounds, and noting city investments of $500M in airport upgrades & $120M in infrastructure. - ➤ SEPTA trolleys resumed service Monday through the tunnel linking 13th and 40th Street after a closure since November (riders faced delays). The tunnel will close for short periods on Jan. 23–26, Jan. 30–Feb. 2, and Feb. 15–22 with shuttle service during outages. WHYY
- ➤ City officials said the Philadelphia Parking Authority will reopen the shuttered Filbert Street bus terminal by May 1. Mayor Parker noted that the terminal will be ready to serve visitors for summer events, including the FIFA World Cup & 250th anniversary festivities. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ SEPTA reopened service through its Center City trolley tunnel on Tuesday, Jan. 13 after nearly two months of closure for wire maintenance & General Manager Scott Sauer thanked riders at 15th Street Station while warning that nightly closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will continue for further repairs. - ➤ Three Sixers starters - Joel Embiid, Paul George, and rookie VJ Edgecombe - are listed as probable for today’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Embiid and George managing knee injuries and Edgecombe recovering from an adductor contusion he suffered in a Monday game. - ➤ After a season of offensive struggles, the Philadelphia Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and retained head coach Nick Sirianni — the team will soon search for a new coordinator as Patullo's future role remains unclear. Metro Philadelphia
