- ➤ The School District of Philadelphia has proposed closing 20 schools to address under- and over-enrollment and aging facilities. The board will review the plan on Feb. 26 (if adopted, changes will start for the 2027 to 2028 school year) as transition teams assist staff and community. WHYY

- ➤ The city is expecting its first double-digit snowfall since 2018 with forecasts calling for up to 14 inches this weekend and prompting impromptu snowball fights in Rittenhouse — local events like the Keystone Sacred Harp Convention may shift indoors if the storm holds. The Philadelphia Inquirer
