CULTURE NEWS

  • The city's iconic flying saucer at LOVE Park, shuttered since 2021, could reopen as a public venue for light vending and events. An RFEI meeting is set for Feb. 18 with bids due by March 18 — funding is in place for upgrades and operating costs.  WHYY
  • Couples who met, had their first date, or got engaged at McGillin’s gathered for the bar’s first reunion celebrating shared memories today— the 166-year-old landmark in Philly hosted the heartfelt event.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • The Philadelphia Museum of Art said its CFO, Valarie McDuffie, and chief of staff, Maggie Fairs, have resigned amid leadership turnover and a disputed rebranding. HEALTH NEWS

  • About 85,000 Pennie enrollees dropped their health coverage after federal tax credits expired, with older and rural residents most affected. Some switched to plans with less coverage and higher deductibles as the average cost rose 102%, and talks in Washington remain stalled.  KYW Newsradio
  • The Philadelphia Department of Public Health launched an online HIV Resource Finder available 24/7 on the Philly Keep On Loving website to help residents quickly locate testing, treatment, and support services.   • The Philadelphia Union builds on their 2025 Supporters’ Shield win by entering MLS, Concacaf Champions Cup, and Leagues Cup in 2026. They face Defence Force FC in Trinidad on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 PM — marking the start of their challenging international run.  Metro Philadelphia
