  • Garry Mills founded Shoot Basketballs NOT People to fight gun violence using basketball after a 2010 Germantown anti-gun game drew more than 400 people—he later joined forces with local teams and sold hoodies online to support year-round youth programs. CULTURE NEWS

  • Pennsylvania Hospital’s historic Pine Building will turn into a museum in May to display eight exhibits including its preserved library, surgical amphitheater, and restored apothecary. The museum will open during celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary.  KYW Newsradio

  • Community groups urge officials to speed up construction of a 60,000 sqft health center at the Friends Hospital campus in Northeast Philadelphia, proposing it open in 2027 instead of the projected 2029 timeline.   • The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Cameron Payne to a rest-of-season contract as he secures a buyout from KK Partizan to boost the team’s guard depth. Reported by league sources, the veteran guard’s return is set to enhance Philadelphia’s lineup.  Metro Philadelphia
