- ➤ Temple University and Opera Philadelphia have launched a new partnership to record contemporary operas and give students hands-on experience at Temple’s Boyer College. The collaboration produced a world premiere in February and will record a new opera in April at the historic Academy of Music. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Chestnut Hill Home and Garden Festival will be held Sunday, May 3 along Germantown Avenue with over 250 vendors, live music, family activities & artisan demonstrations. Inclement weather will postpone the event to Sunday, May 17. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ The Naughty Jawn will host a live music variety show at Two Locals Brewing in University City featuring drag, burlesque, singing and poetry; tickets cost $15 online and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7pm (show starts at 8pm). Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Nick Offerman will promote his new book 'Little Woodchucks: Offerman Woodshop’s Guide to Tools and Tomfoolery' at The Met in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost between $48 and $119 (venue at 858 N. Broad St.). WHYY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Faculty union at the community college says promised SEPTA passes remain undelivered from last year’s contract talks, while the school tests a pilot at its Career and Advanced Technology Center (CATC) in West Philadelphia. The college says it never promised free passes and is negotiating with SEPTA for future steps. KYW Newsradio
- ➤ Ursinus College named Gundolf Graml its 20th president after firing its previous leader last October. Graml, who served as provost in Collegeville — for a year, now takes the helm at the school. KYW Newsradio

- ➤ SEPTA unveiled its new budget for next year and, with state help for two years, it will keep fares and services unchanged while buying new buses, fare gates + replacing its Regional Rail fleet. KYW Newsradio

SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Sixers lost 113-102 to the Rockets Thursday without Joel Embiid (who had an appendectomy) and will face the Pacers Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Indiana. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Zack Wheeler pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings at Coca-Cola Park Wednesday night in his third rehab start as he recovers from thoracic outlet syndrome; he is scheduled to make a fourth start Tuesday at Lehigh Valley. Metro Philadelphia
- ➤ Former Phillies starter Zach Eflin underwent Tommy John surgery for a torn UCL ligament in his right arm. The 32-year-old (who made two starts for the Orioles) is not expected to pitch at the big league level until late 2027 amid a looming lockout. Metro Philadelphia
