  • Spirit Airlines is facing a possible shutdown after not securing funding, a change that may reduce its already low number of daily flights from Philadelphia. Travelers are advised to confirm flight schedules with the airline + consider alternative carriers.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

  • Wild Horizon is a free two-day festival of circus and play at Cherry Street Pier on Saturday (today) and Sunday, May 3 that features performances, interactive workshops, and skill stations aimed at showcasing Philly’s circus scene and inspiring community engagement amidst the recent closure of Germantown’s Circadium.  WHYY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Philadelphia Board of Education approved a $3 billion facilities plan that will close Lankenau Environmental Science Magnet High School by 2027 and convert it into an honors program at Walter B. Saul High School in Northwest Philadelphia. Community members and teachers expressed frustration toward the plan.  WHYY
  • After the School Board voted 6-3 to close 17 schools, City Council Education Committee chair Isaiah Thomas said he is weighing legal action and exploring options with legal advisors (community members have voiced strong concerns).
