  • At Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Philadelphia’s annual Eagles Autism Challenge raised $16M with a 10-mile bike ride and a 5K run/walk that drew 7,000 participants. Teams like Avery’s Awesome Amigos (29 members from 5 to 80) helped boost autism research while the event featured kids’ activities and a memorable proposal.  KYW Newsradio

CULTURE NEWS

  • A local car show on Bridge Street (rescheduled from May 9) will feature vintage American and imported vehicles with a live band and prizes, running Saturday, May 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Metro Philadelphia
  • A historical marker that tells the history of the 1844 Kensington riots and the grit of Philly’s Irish community was unveiled Saturday at the corner of American and Jefferson Streets with officials on hand.   • Philadelphia-based Tempesta di Mare will perform Francis Hopkinson’s oratorio America Independent, or The Temple of Minerva on Thursday, May 14 at Arch Street Meeting House as part of its Soundtrack of Independence series (featuring Handel’s Water Music in F Major), reviving a historic piece first orchestrated in 1781.  WHYY

  • Philadelphia has unveiled new flood monitoring technology in Eastwick that gathers live water data and more. The system provides updates on a new website (flood-monitoring.phila.gov) and is part of 11 planned projects, with flood barriers set for 2027 to reduce future risks.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
