CULTURE NEWS

  • Brownin' is InLiquid’s newest exhibition featuring work by five local artists who study the Black figure and celebrate Black identity; the show is curated with Philadelphia-based Ph.D candidate Zinzi Harley and runs today from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at InLiquid Gallery (1400 North American Street).  Metro Philadelphia

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Over 600 parents in Lower Merion signed a petition to allow opting out of digital devices amid concerns over excessive screen time, and at a Monday night meeting, board members said they were revising policies while stressing that technology remains essential for learning + growth.  WHYY
  • Temple University will offer a $10,000 annual scholarship for children of police, firefighters and SEPTA police, funded by a $1.2M donation from the Neubauer Family Foundation to support up to 30 students starting this fall semester (education support).  WHYY

  • Philadelphia residents near the FIFA fan festival at Lemon Hill must register for special temporary parking permits from the Philadelphia Parking Authority during the 39-day tournament to avoid tickets + towing. HEALTH NEWS

  • Veterinarians in the area report rising cases of pet marijuana exposures with symptoms including low heart rates and respiratory issues (requiring swift veterinary care). They advise pet owners to keep marijuana products safely stored to prevent accidental poisoning.  WHYY

  • MLS Matchday 13 delivered high-scoring action with 28 teams in midweek games. In the East, Philadelphia Union lost 4-3 to Orlando City, while Nashville SC and Vancouver Whitecaps boosted their positions, shifting the league table.  Metro Philadelphia

  • The Phillies overcame a deficit of six runs to defeat the Pirates 11 to 9 Friday night. Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs & Josè Alvarado earned the win while Aaron Nola struggled in his start.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Bob Myers said he will stay involved in the Sixers’ front office as the team searches for a new day-to-day leader before the NBA Draft + GM Elton Brand is evaluating prospects at the draft combine in Chicago.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Phillies pitching coach Caleb Cotham explained that the bullpen was overhauled to boost ground ball rates & limit fly ball risks after the unit struggled in 2025. He said returning closer Jhoan Duran and new relievers provide a more reliable setup for big pitching moments.  Metro Philadelphia
