  • On Monday, communities held Memorial Day ceremonies across the region; Doylestown hosted its 158th annual parade at Central Bucks High School West while Media and Cherry Hill held respectful services after a cancellation, and a 102-year-old veteran in Philadelphia recovered after a fall — showcasing local respect for fallen heroes.  KYW Newsradio
  • 84-year-old Army veteran and retired reporter Frank Dougherty spoke Monday on Spruce Street at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial, sharing how he documented the monument honoring local Vietnam vets. A paver to honor his work will be installed on Veterans Day — a tribute that adds to the memorial.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

  • The Port of Philadelphia is replacing diesel cargo equipment with electric models using a $78M EPA grant. Seven cranes operate at Packer Avenue Marine Terminal & 24 electric yard trucks will arrive in four to six weeks as part of efforts to cut carbon emissions.  KYW Newsradio

HEALTH NEWS

  • The School District hosted a Youth Vaping Prevention Town Hall today to curb rising e-cigarette use among local youth. City Council passed an anti-vaping bill in June 2025 with fines for sales to minors, echoing 1960s glue-sniffing efforts (a lesson shaping current health debates).  The Philadelphia Inquirer
