- ➤ Artist Joseph Daily’s painting of former mayor Michael Nutter won first place in the Portrait Society of America's 2025 international portrait competition. The portrait remains on display in City Hall (where daily tours show it) (and captures him standing in Dilworth Park on a hot summer day). WHYY
- ➤ The Odunde Festival celebrated 50 years in Philadelphia on Sunday with live music and traditional cuisine along 23rd and South Streets—thousands of families gathered to honor African heritage and local arts despite intermittent rain. The festival, inspired by social worker Lois Fernandez’s trip to Nigeria, has become a long-running celebration of the city's African American culture. WHYY
