- ➤ Philadelphia City Council approved the transfer of the Summer Winter Community Garden lots to Neighborhood Gardens Trust to shield the nearly 1-acre garden from development pressure. Jenny Greenberg said the move gives local gardeners in Powelton Village greater confidence to plan improvements & maintain the community resource for future generations. WHYY

- ➤ City Council passed a $2B plan to create and preserve 30,000 homes to ease the housing shortage in Philadelphia. The Housing Opportunities Made Easy initiative will use an $800 million bond to fund 13,500 new homes and 16,500 preserved units for families making less than $100,000 a year and is set to start this fall — a move that aims to address the city's pressing housing needs. - ➤ Philadelphia Parks and Recreation will open 19 public pools on a rolling basis from today through June 22 while nine pools remain closed due to construction needs—residents will get updates on pool hours and available swimming lessons as the summer progresses. The Philadelphia Inquirer
