- ➤ A fire at a Strawberry Mansion row home burned out shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, killing one woman and injuring four people—including three children—while fire crews took 15 minutes to control the blaze and began investigating the cause. KYW Newsradio

- ➤ The head of IBEW Local 614 said PECO did not fix aging equipment, which led to a fire on May 5 in Upper Chichester and another on June 11 in Southwest Philly that sent several people to the hospital. PECO said the June fire came from mylar balloons and will spend over $9.3 billion on new equipment over the next five years—while union workers say repeated warnings go unheeded and poorer neighborhoods suffer the most.
