  • John Czerw, the third generation owner of Czerw’s Kielbasa, died at 55 on Thursday from cancer complications — he ran the smokehouse on Tilton Street in Port Richmond and treated every customer like family. The shop will close next week for funeral services and then reopen as planned.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • The Wardrobe will host an Open Wardrobe event on Thursday, June 26 where formerly incarcerated Philadelphians who are unemployed can receive free clothing and additional resources at five locations across the region — including grooming services in Kennett Square — with community partner support provided.  Metro Philadelphia

CRIME NEWS

  • Philadelphia police arrested 54-year-old Robert Rosado on June 8 in Mayfair—accusing him of posing as a federal immigration officer during a robbery at a car repair shop where he tied up a woman and stole about $1,000.  Metro Philadelphia
  • On Friday, Philadelphia police said a 12-year-old was taken to a hospital and four others were injured & two remain in critical condition in separate shootings linked to an Airbnb party fight and a store area incident, with no arrests made.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

CULTURE NEWS

  • This summer, Shakespeare in Clark Park will stage A Bottom’s Dream, a musical retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Philly drag legend Lili St. Queer as Titania in front of 7,000 fans in the Bowl from July 23 to July 27 — the show marks the event’s 20th anniversary and includes a raffle for picnic baskets with treats from local vendors.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Philadelphia Theatre Company announced its 2025/26 season, which will begin Sept. 19, featuring three mainstage plays—Primary Trust, Caesar, and Wilderness Generation—and a one-night concert musical, La Guagua 47. The company will replace a lost $50,000 NEA grant with support from donors to keep its legacy alive.  Metro Philadelphia
