- ➤ On Tuesday, Old First Reformed United Church of Christ opened 34 units of permanent supportive housing for the formerly homeless in Old City after moving a historic 1760s house to clear the site near the U.S. Mint. The project was built by Community Ventures + partners using housing vouchers from the Philadelphia Housing Authority to offer 20 years of affordable support. KYW Newsradio

- ➤ The city agreed to pay $3 million to the family of TJ Siderio — the youngest person ever fatally shot by a Philadelphia police officer — after the unarmed teen was shot on March 1 near 18th and Barbara Streets in South Philadelphia, and officer Edsaul Mendoza later pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. - ➤ Philadelphia teachers union and School District officials joined state lawmakers at the capitol on Wednesday to push for extra school funding (an increase of $202 million) as federal cuts threaten vulnerable programs (especially for special education and low-income students). - ➤ After a historic June 19 storm with 70 mph wind gusts, PECO restored power for most customers before the heat wave hit but hundreds still lacked electricity—union president Larry Anastasi said poor communication among dispatch and out-of-state crews delayed recovery and created dangerous overlaps.
