- ➤ Philadelphia police have released surveillance photos of two suspects who punched and robbed at least three people in Chinatown last month—two assaults took place on June 14 near Ninth and Cherry and Eighth and Arch streets while a later incident targeted a 16-year-old near Ninth and Arch streets. - ➤ Today, Philly and nearby towns celebrate the Fourth of July with a packed schedule of events—Center City hosts the Wawa Welcome America party featuring performances by Jazmine Sullivan and LL Cool J with fireworks over the Delaware River, while Camden holds a free Freedom Festival starting at 6 p.m. Other events include a Neil Diamond tribute in Delaware on July 5, a Gary Clark Jr. concert at Parx Casino from July 3, and festivals with family activities running through Sunday. - ➤ A group of Philadelphia historical organizations launched The Revolutionary City digital archive that gives free access to over 6,000 documents from the Revolution. - ➤ Philadelphia city officials have accused some striking union members of blocking facilities and engaging in illegal actions—such as slashing tires on trash trucks—that disrupt trash collection across the city. - ➤ A judge ordered 31 union workers at the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office to return to work—city attorneys said that over 180 stored bodies had exceeded safe capacity and posed a health risk in the summer heat.
