ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A police officer and a driver were injured in a two-vehicle crash in West Philadelphia at 58th and Spruce Streets just before 4 p.m. on Saturday and both were taken to Presbyterian Hospital with their conditions not known. The Philadelphia Inquirer
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Philadelphia police responded at around 6:00 p.m. on July 4th to a domestic disturbance on the 2900 block of North Lawrence Street in Fairhill when a man allegedly fired his gun from behind a fence and from inside a house; officers shot the suspect as he tried to flee in a patrol car—he later died at Temple University Hospital and no officers or bystanders were injured. - ➤ A man was shot several times in North Philly after a fight at a convenience store Friday night—he left the store, drove east on Lehigh Avenue and north on Front Street before turning onto Ontario Street where a suspect in a white shirt fired at his car, leaving the 44-year-old with wounds in both arms and his leg and in stable condition at a nearby hospital with no arrests reported. - ➤ Philly native David Corenswet stars as Superman in a movie that will premiere tomorrow — his role brings a fresh take on the hero — while It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia begins its 17th season featuring an Abbott Elementary crossover. The Philadelphia Inquirer

- ➤ Travel agents compared trips abroad and at the Jersey Shore and found that prices vary a lot. They noted a week in Honolulu costs about $4,670, a trip to Paris for two costs about $3,012, and shore rentals range from $1,386 for a motel room to over $12,000 for a beach house & costs have risen both abroad and at the Shore. - ➤ Philadelphia residents can now use a Free Library card to borrow more than books, including streaming movies, video games, and language-learning tools (for example, professional development resources). The card is available to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes, or attends school in the city and can be applied for online, in person, or by mail. The Philadelphia Inquirer
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SEPTA has shut down the Center City trolley tunnel for maintenance that began July 11 and will continue until Aug. 11 so that routes 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36 now start and end at 40th and Market streets + riders are advised to use the Market-Frankford Line for connections between 40th Street Station and 13th Street Station. - ➤ On Saturday, artists gathered at Spiral Q in West Philadelphia to paint monarch butterfly works that protest ICE's rising funding and plans to access state data. The artworks, which include messages urging Gov. Shapiro to block ICE, will join upcoming protests—showing Philadelphia's long history of standing up for immigrant rights. The Philadelphia Inquirer
- ➤ More than 400,000 Pennsylvanians received payments from the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program this month totaling about $255.8 million, state treasurer Stacy Garrity said. Eligible homeowners and renters with incomes below $46,520, including seniors, widowed individuals, and people with disabilities, may apply until December 31—future payments will be issued as applications are approved.
