  • On Friday at 5 p.m., firefighters responded to the 1900 block of North 25th Street in North Philly and found a fire on the first floor while a 12-year-old boy was discovered on the second floor who died after he was taken to a hospital—cause remains under investigation.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

  • Electricity bills across the mid-Atlantic are rising as the nonprofit PJM Interconnection faces higher costs to ensure enough power flows safely, and its slower process for approving new generators is adding pressure to prices—nine governors have recently asked for the right to choose two board members to help speed up grid improvements.   • Mayor Parker announced a new two-year contract for Philadelphia police officers that cost the city $343 million over five years—providing 3% annual raises, a $3,000 bonus, and enhanced benefits including a wellness day for officers.
