  • Knoll, a furniture company in East Greenville, began in 1938 when Hans Knoll started importing European designs and then switched to American production during World War II. He and his partner Florence worked with artists like Saarinen and Noguchi to create a modern style that changed how American homes looked.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • West Philly residents are upset as SEPTA will cut 32 bus routes and reduce service on 88 lines today—routes 12, 30 and 31 will be discontinued, affecting work, school and family commutes. Local leaders and community advocates are organizing protests and outreach to urge officials to review the transit plan.  WHYY

SPORTS NEWS

  • Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler has been diagnosed with venous thoracic outlet syndrome and will undergo season-ending surgery in the coming weeks — his recovery is expected to take six to eight months.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • The Eagles face a quarterback depth challenge for Week 1—injured Tanner McKee hurt his finger and may be sidelined while rookie Kyle McCord had a mixed performance in the preseason finale.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
  • Philadelphia selected Eagles rookie Antwaun Powell-Ryland from Virginia Tech who recorded 16 sacks last season and is known for his strong pass-rushing skills.
