- ➤ Detectives are trying to identify a man wanted in an armed robbery at a North Philly McDonald’s on Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue — he wore a gray New Balance sweatshirt and sneakers and pulled a gun on a cashier at 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 20 while taking money. KYW Newsradio
- ➤ The family of Robert Jones is suing the city and police after off-duty Detective Chris Sweeney fatally shot him last fall near Willits Road in Northeast Philadelphia — prosecutors cleared Sweeney in July. The Philadelphia Inquirer
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Philadelphia Federation of Teachers Local 3 approved a three-year contract with the school district after 70% of its 14,000 members voted for a deal that provides a 3% annual pay raise, a one-time $1,400 bonus, and paid parental leave. The new agreement goes into effect Sept. 1 and runs through Aug. 31, 2028—covering teachers, counselors, and support staff. WHYY

- ➤ A Philadelphia judge ordered SEPTA to halt rail schedule cuts set for Tuesday—an injunction requested on Friday by Attorney George Bocchetto for two riders and a consumer advocate. SEPTA will still raise fares by 21.5% on Monday and restore some bus routes on Sept. 2 while facing a $213 million deficit—a Sept. 4 hearing will decide if the order becomes permanent. KYW Newsradio

- ➤ Philadelphia placed free naloxone boxes outside all fire stations in a program called Naloxone in Black that aimed to address overdose reversals and racial disparities. The boxes are stocked with 50,000 doses from a federal grant and let people get the medicine quickly — no questions asked. KYW Newsradio

- ➤ Phillies star Kyle Schwarber hit four home runs in a 19-4 win over the Braves on Thursday night and became the first Phillie since Mike Schmidt in 1976 to do so—his nine RBIs set a new franchise record. He moved up the all-time home run list with 333 career homers and drew praise from teammates. The Philadelphia Inquirer
