Good morning, Philadelphia. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 24th of September.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Several school districts are planning to close under-enrolled public schools as smaller student numbers and shrinking budgets force tough budget cuts, and Philadelphia is among the cities reviewing such measures. Officials warn that these closures could disrupt education and unsettle local communities — prompting urgent debates over the future of local schools.  KYW Newsradio

  • After Charlie Kirk was shot and killed, young conservatives in PA have been mobilizing to launch more Turning Point USA chapters as his death may shift voter leanings in future elections—supporters see his legacy as a call for renewed political engagement. Organizers report a significant rise in requests from students and community members to join conservative groups ahead of next elections.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
