BUSINESS NEWS

  • On September 25, SPS Technologies unveiled plans to rebuild its aerospace fastener facility in Abington with a two-story, 350,000-square-foot building — featuring a green design with a 30% smaller footprint and solar panels; the company will start construction in 2026 and expects to be production-ready by 2028 while rehiring workers laid off after the fire.  WHYY

  • A new Holocaust mural—'Lay-lah Lay-lah' by artist Ella Ponizovsky Bergelson—was unveiled on the eastern wall of a Verizon building at 16th and the Parkway near the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Philadelphia homeowners can now use one online application to check their eligibility for tax relief programs such as the homestead exemption, tax freezes and the Longtime Owner Occupants Program — a move by Mayor Parker’s administration to simplify the process.   • Attorney George Bochetto said he plans to sue SEPTA after its Sept. 14 21.5% fare increase when full service returned, claiming the agency broke rules by skipping required public hearings.   • On September 21, the Eagles blocked two Rams field goal attempts in Philadelphia as defensive tackle Jordan Davis returned one block 61 yards for a touchdown and Jalen Carter stopped a 36-yard kick (a play praised by special teams coach Michael Clay).
