- ➤ Starbucks will close six Philadelphia stores this weekend as part of a plan to shut down 1% of its North American locations and cut about 900 jobs. The store at 18th and Spruce—once disputed for its bathroom policy—will be among those closing. WHYY

- ➤ Opera Philadelphia named Nathalie Joachim as its composer in residence for 2025-2026. She will create a new opera called Le présent éternel with workshop performances scheduled in New York and at Zankel Hall this fall. The Philadelphia Inquirer
- ➤ Brad Ingelsby left Los Angeles for Berwyn to create Task, a Delco crime thriller with Mark Ruffalo, after his hit Mare of Easttown gained national fame. He films Task at over 100 local spots — ensuring the series stays true to its roots — and brings jobs to the region. The Philadelphia Inquirer
- ➤ A new musical float called La Guagua 47: The Musical is being built for the upcoming Puerto Rican Day Parade to show how SEPTA’s Route 47 bus unites immigrants and locals—local artists and over 100 community members gathered at Taller Puertorriqueño to create paper flowers and painted mobile murals. - ➤ Last Sunday the Eagles won 31-25 in Tampa but struggled with their running game as Saquon Barkley rushed 19 times for 43 yards.
