- ➤ Manayunk is hosting its first Fall Fest and Mac N Cheese Crawl this Saturday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street, where families will enjoy food trucks, local vendors and live music. The crawl runs from noon to 4 p.m. for $20 per ticket and includes samples from 10+ food trucks and 60+ vendors. Metro Philadelphia

- ➤ Philadelphia’s Barrymore Awards will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at the Temple Performing Arts Center to honor professional theatre. The ceremony features nominees like Jamison Stern and Connor McAndrews in Peter Panto: A Musical Panto — it will offer an in-person event with cost-friendly livestream options and require negative COVID-19 tests for attendees. - ➤ The Mann Center for the Performing Arts—now known as the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts—began a $70M renovation on Wednesday that will add a larger plaza, digital installations, and improved accessibility ahead of its 50th anniversary and the nation’s 250th birthday. - ➤ SEPTA general manager Scott Sauer said at a city council transportation hearing that only 52 of 225 rail cars have passed federally ordered fire inspections so far — he warned that normal service may not return until after the Oct. 31 deadline and an extension might be needed. KYW Newsradio
- ➤ The FIFA World Cup 26 volunteer center opened on October 15th at 9th and Market Street to train and support over 3,000 volunteers for the upcoming tournament — volunteer team tryouts will begin later this month as the center also features a FIFA museum and a meal voucher program for local restaurants. - ➤ Ryan Duffy, a student at Neshaminy High School in Bucks County, died after contracting bacterial meningitis last week and was taken to the hospital when he suddenly became ill—school officials said the type of meningitis he had is usually not spread through casual contact and that enhanced cleaning will be done as a precaution.
