- ➤ Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show holds a preview today from 4 to 9 p.m.—the event runs Nov 7 to Nov 9 with 195 artists selling work—while the Secret Cinema at Glen Foerd screens 'Häxan' at 7 p.m. and InterAct Theatre Company’s play 'Walden' opens today at The Drake, with Carpenter’s Hall planning Year of the Spy events for 2026. - ➤ This Friday, November 7, the Barnes Foundation will host First Friday: AAPI Jazz Collective & PAAFF from 6 to 9 p.m., where visitors will view art exhibits, listen to live jazz, watch a film based on real events and sip mixed cocktails. For those who cannot attend on Friday, the foundation will also hold a screening of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou on November 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway. - ➤ Philadelphia’s Museum of the American Revolution is hosting a new exhibit titled 'The Declarations Journey' — which shows Native American support during the American Revolution — as part of November celebrations for Native American Heritage Month and Veterans Day. The museum will offer daily talks, film showings, and free admission for veterans, military, and Blue Star families from Nov. 8 to 11, and will host its first Tavern Night on Nov. 21. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Philadelphia school district officials said they will send out a survey to families this month to gather input on school building changes — survey responses will be shared in December — and delay plans for the November master plan. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the TSA temporarily closed two security checkpoints at Terminal A West and Terminal F at Philadelphia International Airport. Airport staff will direct travelers to other open checkpoints (with passengers advised to arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three for international ones) as officials warn that delays may increase if the shutdown continues. - ➤ Philadelphia's Fall Leaf Recycling Program began this week and will run until Dec. 20 to reduce waste from fallen leaves; mechanical crews will pick up leaves on set schedules and residents should have them raked and ready by 7 a.m. or drop off bagged leaves at centers (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
