CULTURE NEWS

  • Renault Winery in Egg Harbor Township has been transformed into a holiday wonderland — offering a Barrel Train, ice rink and festive village — and invites Philadelphians to enjoy its attractions until Jan. 19, with a public ceremony to light the famous Barrel Tree on Dec. 5.  Metro Philadelphia

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Philadelphia City Planning Commission today launched a public survey asking residents to share their hopes and dreams for the city as it updates its comprehensive plan for the next 25 years. Residents may submit responses online or at 25 stations until Jan. 30, and the commission will host virtual sessions on Dec. 12 at noon and Dec. 18 at 6 p.m.—steps that will help guide future planning.   WHYY
  • SEPTA said in the coming months it will display better real-time bus and train arrival info — a change aimed at reducing wait times for riders — as it upgrades the website, app, and station signs. Officials plan to roll out additional signage within 3 to 6 months to improve a system that commuters have long needed better data on.  KYW Newsradio
  • City officials announced that construction will begin today on accessibility and infrastructure improvements in Logan Square Park led by the Philadelphia Streets Department, which will close sidewalks at Logan Circle and travel lanes on Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 19th Street through spring 2026+ officials advise caution for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians near the work zone.  Metro Philadelphia

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Philly holiday pop-ups return with festive decorations, creative cocktails and seasonal treats at local spots like The Wayward, The Prime Rib and Craftsman Row Saloon—drawing crowd interest from residents and visitors. SPORTS NEWS

  • The Eagles lost to the Bears after 12 games at 8–4 as they showed big problems with play-calling, poor discipline, and a weak defense that allowed 281 rushing yards. Observers say the team will have to fix its mistakes quickly to earn wins in the games ahead — a steep challenge as they search for a clear identity.  Metro Philadelphia
  • A new women’s sports hub called The Stoop Pigeon is planned to open in Philly in 2026 to offer a safe space for women to cheer for their favorite teams. Founder Jen Leary said the project evolved from Watch Party PHL and will help show that Philly is a women’s sports town—especially as teams like the WNBA and Unrivaled plan future events.  KYW Newsradio
  • The Flyers extended their win streak to three games by beating the New Jersey Devils 5—3 on Saturday night at Prudential Center while head coach Rick Tocchet earned his 300th NHL win. The team will host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.  Metro Philadelphia
  • The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Atlanta Hawks at 6 p.m. today at XFinity Mobile Arena as several key players face injuries—Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond are listed as questionable while the Hawks miss Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis. Both teams will rely on emerging stars, with Maxey leading for the Sixers and Jalen Johnson rising for the Hawks as they prepare for the game.  Metro Philadelphia
  • The Philadelphia 76ers lost 142—134 to the Atlanta Hawks in double overtime at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, with Tyrese Maxey scoring 44 points and Quentin Grimes adding 28. The team will host the Washington Wizards on Tuesday at 7 p.m.—the Wizards will be without Corey Kispert and Tre Johnson.  Metro Philadelphia
