  • Volunteers in Bucks County packed thousands of pounds of holiday dinners yesterday at St. Robert Bellarmine Church and reached their 100,000th meal milestone since 2012 — a sign that food insecurity remains high — as families in Montgomery and Bucks counties received the meals.  KYW Newsradio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Philadelphia hosts New Year's Eve celebrations on Dec. 31, offering prix fixe dinners at local eateries (like Stina Pizzeria, Fringe Bar, and others) as well as family-friendly events at places such as Please Touch Museum and Betsy Ross House. Multiple venues provide dining, dancing, and performances to ring in 2026.  Metro Philadelphia
  • At the Brandywine Museum in Chadds Ford, visitors can see the Home for the Holidays exhibit featuring a delicate dollhouse created by the Wyeth family — a piece with handcrafted details like a tiny bottle labeled Lucy Juice. The exhibit runs through Jan. 4.  WHYY
  • Taylor Swift’s docuseries, The End of an Era, showcased Philly ties via an Eagles sweatshirt moment, a nod to South Philly author Liz Moore, and scenes from local shows at the Linc.   • Philadelphia Gen Z graduates are struggling to secure jobs as ghost listings and AI reduce entry-level roles & many remain in service jobs while searching for lasting career opportunities.  WHYY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A recent Philadelphia School District survey of over 8,000 respondents showed that community members prefer renovating local schools (rather than closing them) to help reduce student transitions. A draft facilities plan will be presented to the school board this winter.  KYW Newsradio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A large sinkhole closed the Schuylkill River Trail between Race Street and JFK Boulevard in October, and city workers will start repairs early in the new year if weather permits. Joe Syrnick from the Schuylkill River Development Corp said the job requires sealing bulkhead gaps before backfilling and paving.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Philadelphia Eagles clinched a playoff spot after beating the Commanders and will face the Bills before a final clash with Washington + if the team wins its remaining games while rivals stumble, it could move up to the #2 seed.  Metro Philadelphia
  • The Philadelphia 76ers will host the Brooklyn Nets at 7:00 p.m. today at Xfinity Mobile Arena as they strive to extend a win streak, even though players like Grimes, Edgecombe, and Barlow are questionable due to illness (Embiid remains probable).  Metro Philadelphia
  • The Phillies are set to enter the 2026 season with seven players on expiring contracts — their departures could lower team payroll and spark a significant roster shakeup in 2027.  Metro Philadelphia
