  • The Pennsylvania Turnpike offers familiar restaurant choices as part of a 30-year lease with Applegreen controlling menus today. Applegreen provides 15 chain spots—featuring Roy Rogers, Auntie Anne’s, and Burger King—to serve over 550,000 daily travelers.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

  • Celebrating 125 years, the Philadelphia Mummers Parade evolved from European customs of the 1700s and 1800s to embrace modern inclusivity while keeping its family tradition alive on New Year's Day in South Philly.   • Construction on the South Street Pedestrian Bridge will begin summer 2026 and open in 2027 as part of the $329 million I-95 cap project that will create nearly 12 acres of parkland connecting Old City to the Delaware River waterfront.  WHYY

  • The Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 129 to 104 after the visiting team committed a season-high number of turnovers in a strong second-half rally. The Sixers will head to Memphis tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. — they aim to shift momentum on their road trip.  Metro Philadelphia
  • Reviewing 2025, Philly sports fans saw the Eagles win the Super Bowl — a five-year deal for Kyle Schwarber, a coaching change for the Flyers, a new era thrust for the 76ers after Embiid’s injury, and the announcement of a future WNBA team set for 2030.  Metro Philadelphia
  • The Philadelphia Eagles won a close game over the Bills 13-12 when their defense stopped a two-point conversion with five seconds left at Highmark Stadium (rainy conditions slowed play).  Metro Philadelphia
  • Former NFL defensive back Donald Frank, who faced four denials in his decade-long quest for concussion benefits, has been awarded $1.4 million and will receive his payment in January — his victory sheds light on challenges faced by players including some from the Eagles.  The Philadelphia Inquirer
