Good morning, Philadelphia. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 28th of July.

CRIME NEWS

  • Philadelphia police are investigating a gray sedan that plunged off a bridge into Wissahickon Creek early Sunday near Ridge Avenue by the SEPTA bus depot in East Falls — no driver was found at the scene.  KYW Newsradio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Rep. Perry Warren has introduced legislation that will require home sellers to disclose flood risks, prior damage claims and insurance details for properties in FEMA designated flood zones– a move aimed at alerting buyers after severe storms caused major losses. The bipartisan proposal awaits a House vote and would also have the Insurance Department launch a website to provide flood zone and insurance information.  WHYY
  • Delaware County will not appeal a court ruling that lets 13 municipalities continue their own environmental health inspections + the county will work with these local governments to serve residents as its three-year-old health department adjusts its plans. The decision follows a challenge by some municipalities who sought to keep control of food-serving establishment inspections.  KYW Newsradio
  • Philly's GOP state senator Joe Picozzi and two suburban colleagues introduced bills last week to make SEPTA more accountable by requiring performance reviews and setting minimum system criteria—steps that aim to improve transit management. The proposals do not add extra funding so SEPTA will raise fares and cut services if state budget talks do not secure more money—placing the transit agency in a tough spot.  The Philadelphia Inquirer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Phillies first baseman Dick Allen was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, marking his 15-year career with over 350 home runs. Phillies closer Billy Wagner was also honored, joining greats like Ichiro Suzuki + Dave Parker in Cooperstown.  WHYY
  • The Phillies are expected to make moves before the July 31 trade deadline to add a veteran reliever and a power hitter—reports say the team may trade away prospects to bolster their lineup. The club might also shift player roles and rely on internal options like recalling Justin Crawford if trade discussions do not lead to deals.  Metro Philadelphia
